Product Description

High-performance starch hydrocyclone Starch Cyclone Separator 

The starch hydrocyclone is used for refining and washing starch milk, with the primary purpose of removing soluble and insoluble proteins, fine fibers, and sugars to purify the starch.

Specification

1. Corn Starch  

- Used in wet-milling processes to wash separated starch milk, removing soluble proteins (gluten), fats, and fine fibers.  

  - Refines crude starch milk (protein content: 3.5%–5%) to a purified starch milk with protein content ≤0.4%.  

Typical Process: Crude starch milk undergoes 12-stage countercurrent washing, with the final underflow reaching 20–22°Bé (39% solids), meeting dehydration and drying requirements.  

 

2. Cassava starch (Potato, Cassava, Sweet Potato, etc.)  

   - Removes soluble proteins, fine residues, and fibrous impurities from starch milk, improving whiteness and purity.  

   - Example: In hydrocyclones, feed concentration ≥4°Bé, output concentration 18–22°Bé.  

 

3. Wheat Starch & Miscellaneous Grain Starches (Pea, Mung Bean, etc.) 

  - Separates starch from gluten proteins and concentrates recovered starch milk.  

 

4. Modified Starch Production  

  - Washes and recovers modified starch milk, removing chemical residues and byproducts.  

Advantages

Compared to disc separators, hydrocyclones offer high separation efficiency, advanced automation, and superior product quality. They also feature a simple structure, reliable operation, and easy maintenance. Under a certain pressure differential, they can separate particles as small as 4 microns. By utilizing centrifugal force, the hydrocyclone separates suspended particles based on size and specific gravity. The material enters the cylindrical body of the hydrocyclone tangentially under pressure, generating strong centrifugal force as it rotates inside. Heavier particles move toward the wall and spiral downward, exiting as a concentrated underflow, while lighter particles rotate upward near the center and discharge as a diluted overflow.
